Turn titles into clean URL slugs

Short, lowercase, hyphen-separated, and made only of the words that matter. A good slug reads like a phrase a human would type from memory, not a copy of the full headline with every punctuation mark left in.

Hyphens. Search and AI crawlers treat a hyphen as a word boundary, so my-post-title is read as three separate words. An underscore is often treated as part of the word, so my_post_title can be read as one long token. Hyphens are the standard for a reason.

Usually not. Words like the, of, and, or add length without adding meaning, so stripping them keeps the slug shorter and easier to read at a glance. This tool strips them by default but leaves the checkbox there because some titles lose meaning without them, and you know your own title better than an algorithm does.

Long enough to describe the page, short enough to read in one glance, usually under 60 characters. This tool defaults the cap to 60 and never cuts a word in half to get there, it backs up to the last full word before the limit.

Be careful. Changing a live URL breaks every existing link and bookmark to it, and any AI assistant or search engine that already indexed the old address. If you do change it, set up a redirect from the old slug to the new one so nothing 404s.

No. The slugify logic runs entirely in your browser with plain string operations. Nothing you type here is sent to a server or stored anywhere.
