01 / How it works

Step 1

Paste the destination URL

Drop in the page you're linking to. The tool checks it's a valid URL and flags it if UTM parameters are already on there.

Step 2

Pick a preset or fill in the fields

Click a preset to fill source and medium for a common channel, then add a campaign name. Term and content are optional.

Step 3

Copy the tagged link

Press Build link to get the full URL, lowercase and encoded the way analytics tools expect. Copy it and use it wherever you're posting.

02 / FAQ

Questions, answered.

What are UTM parameters, exactly?+

They're five query parameters, utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term and utm_content, that you append to a link so your analytics tool can tell where a visit came from. They don't change the page a visitor lands on, they just label the visit.

What's the difference between utm_source and utm_medium?+

Source is where the click came from: newsletter, x, linkedin, partner. Medium is the channel type: email, social, cpc, referral. Two different newsletters are both utm_source values, but they'd share utm_medium=email. Mixing the two up is the most common reason campaign reports look inconsistent.

Why does the tool force everything to lowercase?+

Most analytics tools treat utm_source=Newsletter and utm_source=newsletter as two separate values, which splits one campaign's traffic into two rows in every report. Picking a lowercase convention and sticking to it is the single easiest fix for clean UTM data.

Do UTM parameters affect whether ChatGPT or Google cite my page?+

No. UTM parameters are for your own analytics, they tell you where a click came from, nothing more. They have no bearing on how AI assistants or search engines evaluate a page, and we won't claim otherwise.

Should I put UTM parameters on internal links, like in my own nav or footer?+

No. UTMs are meant to mark where a visitor arrived from outside your site. Putting them on internal links overwrites the original source in most analytics tools, so a visitor who arrived from a newsletter gets reattributed to whatever internal link they clicked next, and you lose the real source.

Is anything I type here uploaded anywhere?+

No. The whole tool runs in your browser: parsing the URL, building the tagged link, validating it. Nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is stored.
